空港で会った時の英会話
Mayumi has just arrived in Vancouver after a 9 hour and 40 minute flight from Narita, Japan. She is meeting Veronica, her home stay host for the first time. Mayumi recognizes Veronica from her photograph, and approaches her nervously.
まゆみは、日本の成田空港から９時間４０分間の飛行の後、バンクーバーに着いたところです。まゆみは、これからホストのベロニカに初めて会うところです。写真で見た事のあるベロニカを見つけ、緊張しながらベロニカのところに近寄っていきます。
Mayumi Hello, are
you Veronica?
こんにちは。貴方は、ベロニカ？
Veronica Why yes,
Hello Mayumi, it’s so nice to meet you.
ええそうよ。こんにちは、まゆみ、はじめまして。
Mayumi It’s nice
to meet you as well.

Veronica How was
your flight?
飛行機での空の旅はどうだった？
Mayumi I try to sleep
during flights but this one was so long.
飛行中、寝ようとしたんだけど、この空の旅は、かなり長かったわ。
Veronica How long
did it take?
どのくらい長かったの？
Mayumi I think it
was around ten hours.

Veronica You must
be exhausted. Soon you’ll be able to rest in your new room.

Mayumi I’m very excited
to be here. My older sister spent one year in Vancouver, and she had a really
memorable time.

Veronica Is this
your first visit to Canada?

Mayumi Yes, it is.

Veronica Is this
all of your luggage?

Mayumi Yes, I have
so many suitcases don’t I?
ええ。トランクいっぱいあるでしょ。
Veronica When I spent
two years in Italy, I tried to pack up my whole room. (laughs)
私がイタリアに行った時には、部屋を丸ごとトランクにつめこむほど荷物があったわ。（笑）
Mayumi I look forward
to living with you.

Veronica Me too,
